Edson Arantes do Nascimento was born on 23rd October 1940. He is popularly known as Pelé. In 1999,  Pelé was considered as World Player of the Century by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS).

In 1999, France Football questioned their former Ballon d’Or winners to elect the Greatest Football Player of the Century and guess who they selected, the great Pelé. In 2013 he received the FIFA Ballon d’Or Prix d’Honneur in recognition of his career and achievements as a global icon of football.

According to the IFFHS, Pelé is the most successful league goal-scorer in the world, with 541 league goals. During his career, Pelé scored 1281 goals in 1363 games, which included unofficial friendlies and tour games. He was listed in the Guinness World Records for most career goals scored in football for this.

He was an amazing, in fact an outstanding player. He is a true legend, a legend that the world can never forget.

Lionel Andrés “Leo” Messi is an Argentine professional footballer. He plays as a forward for Spanish club FC Barcelona. He was born on June 24, 1987. He is often considered the best player in the world. Messi is the only player in the history of football to win five FIFA Ballon d’Or. Out of these five ballon d’Or, four were won consecutively. He is also the first player to win three European Golden Shoes.

While playing in Barcelona, he won eight La Liga titles and four UEFA Champions League titles. Along with all these titles, he has also won four Copas del Rey. Messi holds the records for most goals scored in La Liga, a La Liga season (50), a football season (82), and a calendar year (91). He also holds the record for most assists made in La Liga and the Copa América.

This man is one of the most awesome football players history has ever known, his dribbling is deadly. The moment ball touches his feet, he rolls it across the field so fast that others become vulnerable. In short, this is the man from another world.

Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays for Spanish club Real Madrid and the Portugal national team. He is a forward and serves as captain for Portugal. In 2008, he won his first Ballon d’Or and FIFA World Player of the Year awards. He then won the FIFA Ballon d’Or in 2013 and 2014. In 2015, Ronaldo scored his 500th senior career goal for club and country.

Cristiano Ronaldo is often ranked as the best player in the world. Hendrik Johannes “Johan” Cruijff anglicized to Cruyff, was born on 25th April 1947 and died on 24th March 2016. He was a Dutch professional football player and coach.

He won the Ballon d’Or three times, in 1971, 1973 and 1974. Cruyff is considered as one of the greatest players in football history. In the 1970s, Cruyff led the Dutch football from near obscurity to become a powerhouse in the sport. Cruyff led the Netherlands to the final of the 1974 FIFA World Cup and received the Golden Ball as player of the tournament.

He is really popular for a feint which he executed at the 1974 finals. This feint was subsequently named after him, the Cruyff Turn, a move widely replicated in the modern game.

In 1973, he moved to Barcelona for a world record transfer fee, winning La Liga in his first season and was named European Footballer of the Year. After retiring from playing in 1984, Cruyff became highly successful as manager of Ajax and later Barcelona. He remained an influential advisor to both clubs. His son Jordi also played football professionally.

Diego Armando Maradona was born on 30th October 1960. He is a retired Argentine professional footballer. Maradona performed as a football player as well as a coach for many clubs and also for the national team of Argentina. Many football-related personalities and fans, regard Maradona to be the greatest football player of all time. He was joint FIFA Player of the 20th Century with Pelé.

He was an advanced playmaker and strategist who operated in the classic number 10 position. Maradona is the first player in football history to set the world record transfer fee twice. The first was when he transferred to Barcelona which made a world record of £5 million, and second was when he transferred to Napoli for another record fee of £6.9 million.

He played for Argentinos Juniors, Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Napoli, Sevilla and Newell’s Old Boys during his club career. He is most famous for his time at Napoli, where he won numerous accolades. In his international career with Argentina, he earned 91 caps and scored 34 goals.

Maradona’s exceptional vision, passing, ball control, dribbling skills, speed, reflexes and reaction time, combined with his small size (1.65 m or 5 ft 5 in tall) giving him a low center of gravity which allowed him to be more maneuverable than most other football players, made him an exceptionally skillful player. He would often dribble past multiple opposing players on a run. His presence on the pitch had a great effect on his team’s general performance, while he would often be singled out by the opposition. A precocious talent, Maradona was given the nickname “El Pibe de Oro” (“The Golden Boy”), a name that stuck with him throughout his career.

He played as an attacking midfielder for the France national team, Cannes, Bordeaux, Juventus and Real Madrid. He is famous for his elegance, vision, ball control and technique.

Zidane was named the best European footballer of the past 50 years in the UEFA Golden Jubilee Poll. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the game.

At club level, Zidane won the La Liga title and the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid, two Serie A league championships with Juventus and an Intercontinental Cup and a UEFA Super Cup each with both the teams. Arjen Robben was born on 23rd January 1984. He is a Dutch professional footballer who plays for German club Bayern Munich. He is the captain of the Netherlands national team. Robben has appeared in three UEFA European Championships, and three FIFA World Cups.

He is a forward who usually plays as a left or right sided winger. Robben is known for his dribbling skills, speed, crossing ability and his accurate left foot long-range shots from the right wing.

Robben joined Chelsea in 2004. Robben’s injury delayed his Chelsea debut, but upon returning to fitness he helped Chelsea bring home two consecutive Premier League titles, and was the FA Premier League Player of the Month in November 2005. Now that’s what how you put the show on the road.

Manuel Peter Neuer was born on 27th March 1986. He is a German professional footballer who plays for Bayern Munich and the Germany national team. He is a goalkeeper and serves as vice-captain for Bayern Munich and captain of Germany.

Neuer has been described as a “sweeper-keeper”. He earned this title because of his unique playing style and speed when rushing off his line. He is also popular for his quick reflexes, excellent shot-stopping abilities, command of his area and accurate control and distribution of the ball.

Being the current holder of the IFFHS World’s Best Goalkeeper award (for three years in a row) and regarded as one of the best and most complete goalkeepers of all-time, Neuer won the 2014 FIFA World Cup with Germany as well as the Golden Glove award for being the best goalkeeper in the tournament, and is considered by some in the sport to be the best goalkeeper in football since Lev Yashin.

In 2014, Neuer finished third in the voting, behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, for the FIFA Ballon d’Or award. The same year, he was ranked the third-best player in the world by The Guardian.
